Pictorial Art Deco style map of Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, also showing No Man’s Land and Elizabeth Islands. In addition to towns, beaches, major roads and highways, a key identifies lighthouses, lighted buoys, Coast Guard stations, golf clubs, yacht clubs, airports, and points of interest.There are also small illustrations, mostly of landmarks and historical sites such as “Pilgrim’s Monument” and “Corn Hill Where Pilgrims first found Corn,” along with some playful ones such as “Mooncussing by Ye Old Beachcomber” and “Mythical Sea Serpent.” The map is printed in tones of blue, green and brown.

Inset vignette pictorial views in left and right margins include Plymouth Rock, the Pilgrim Memorial Monument, gravestones at Plymouth, the Myles Standish Monument, the Old Mill at East Brewster, the United States Wireless Station and Cape Cod Light, Broadway, a Nantucket inn, Sankaty Head Light, Oyster Harbor, the Whaling Museum, the Jethro House, Gay Head Cliffs, Gay Head Light House, United States Bureau of Fisheries, one of three bridges joining the Cape to the mainland, cranberry bogs, and pictures of typical sites such as fishing boats, windmills, a Cape Cod cottage and a recreational beach. A Canada goose flies above the cartouche, and the waters are decorated with pictures of The Mayflower and contemporary boats. There is a simple compass rose with rhumb lines in Nantucket Sound.

Condition: Generally very good, recently professionally cleaned and deacidified. Small abrasion in cartouche, unobstrusive. Small margins, as issued, still ample for framing or can be floated.
