C.S. Hammond & Co. was founded by Caleb Stillson Hammond (1862-1929) in 1900. He learned the trade working for the Rand McNally map and globe publisher in New York City before starting his own business. C.S. Hammond & Co. advertised business locations in New York, Brooklyn, and Boston, unlike most mapmakers of the period, which were centered in Chicago. The firm produced a variety of wall maps, atlases, globes, etc. This map is one of its earliest productions.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual light overall toning and some fraying and small tears at the edges. Scattered faint staining, markings. Two vertical creases. Map is offset slightly at center where two portions adjoin, as issued. Backed on linen as issued.
