Two original bird’s-eye view paintings of garden view, rendered in earth tones, greens and pinks in an illustration art style typical of the mid 20th century. . Garden View with Statue shows a formal garden in springtime, possibly a section of a New York City park or botanical garden, with statue, topiary trees cut in the shape of candy canes, a lattice gate, tulips and flowering trees. Wheelbarrows and tools await the return of a gardener on the lawn in the foreground. Inscribed in pencil “Joe Braswell Adv. II,” possibly in relation to a client or advertising agency. Garden View with Cottage shows a formal garden with flowering trees, possibly cherry or crabapple, and a small brown cottage. The painting is labeled “C.A. Loescher Section I,” possibly a section of a New York City park or botanical garden. We also have a related painting by Ed Swann of the greenhouse at the New York Botanical Garden.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning and wear. Boards slightly warped. Masking tape and masking tape residue in margins can be matted out.
