Subway poster advertising the BMT Lines rapid transit to Prospect Park Station featuring a boldly colored illustration of the Lily Pool at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in shades of pink, green, purple, orange, yellow and blue. The text reads: “Visit .. Brooklyn’s Beautiful Botanic Garden/ Prospect Park Station/ To and from the Business & Shopping Centers of Brooklyn, Manhattan & Queens …. use BMT Lines.” The poster is undated but the BMT Lines (Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Corporation) was founded in 1923 and sold its transit operations to New York City in 1940, when Mayor LaGuardia consolidated privately-owned transit lines under municipal ownership and management. The illustration is signed in the matrix lower left H.E.H. Poster apparently quite rare.
Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall toning and wear. Some light scattered creases. Some minor scattered abrasion losses in lettering in lower portion professionally restored, unobtrusive.
