Human Head Anatomy Relief Model
Early 20th Century
Painted plaster on ebonized wood plaque
13 inches high including plaque
A medical demonstration median section model of the human head and neck in profile. Various individual parts are realistically shaped in raised relief, colored in shades of yellow and red and numbered, including the brain, spinal cord, spinal column, tongue, throat, esophagus, nasal cavity, etc. It is made of plaster, cast and hand painted, and mounted on an ebonized wooden board. It was designed to be hung on a wall for classroom instruction. A paper label with a faded ink inscription, apparently original, is still attached, with remnants of earlier painted identification below.
Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning, wear, handling, minor restorations. Numbering key lacking.
