Rare cartoon pictorial map of the campus of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. It is drawn in a simplified style, with streets, buildings, and waterways labeled, mostly with their actual names, sometimes with nicknames such as “The Happy Home” or “Lovers Lane.” A rendition of an oversized goat labeled “Our ‘Billy'” refers to the USNA team mascot. Small whimsically drawn figures of midshipmen and others typically found on campus are included throughout. Beneath the title in the upper left corner is a compass rose. “The Severen River where Severn joins the tide” is printed in dark blue and includes humorous pictures such as a mermaid distracting the rowers in a passing scull. The academy’s seal is in the lower right corner. The map is printed in navy blue and gold, the academy’s official team colors.
