Description
The Barnegat Lighthouse sits at the northern tip of Long Beach Island in Ocean County, New Jersey, and today is part of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. The Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association (BBYRA) is a regional sailing association established in 1914 to run amateur sailboat races for the clubs around Barnegat Bay on the Atlantic Coast of New Jersey, which it still does today. The 15-foot sneakbox was introduced by J.H. Perrine of Barnegat in 1920 and quickly became so popular that by 1922 the BBYRA had instituted a race category for the boats. The following year, the race was divided into a “B” class for youths under age 17 and an “A” class with no age restrictions.
The William H. Horstmann Uniform Company was a manufacturer of uniforms and military accessories based in Philadelphia. Founded in 1815, it continued operating well into the 20th century.
Condition: Each generally very good, clean with fresh colors. Some scattered small holes (possibly from moths), unobtrusive.
