These original fashion and costume illustrations are by Gertrude Johnson, an American designer working primarily in the 1930s and 1940s. Her designs reflect the prevailing Art Deco style, with some Art Nouveau influence as well. They range from designs of simple clothing for girls, to bawdy showgirl costumes for the stage. Some of the designs are for a production called Waltz Ho, American Beauty.
