Description
The print is heavily colored in gouache intentionally so that it resembles an original painting more than a print. The margins are entirely painted in goauche as well, with the title in large block red letters The gouache obscures the print’s publication credits making attribution more difficult. Nonetheless, the format and style of the print, including the typography of the title, resembles ones of Milan, Rome and Florence published by Tommaso Genevresi in Milan in the mid 19th century.
A recent public domain photograph, included with the images here, shows the same buildings present today.
Condition: Print very good overall, with bright fresh colors, mounted on linen, probably as issued. Slightly brittle and chipped at outer edges. Frame, probably original, good with the usual wear and aging.
