Pair of early 20th Century watercolor illustrations of young male athletes in an elongated vertical format. One shows a rower standing on a dock holding an oar. The companion work is a runner shown midstride on a track. Each as a portrait of a young man is outlined in black and colored in light washes. A related work by the same artist of a hockey player is known, suggesting these were part of set, possibly as mural designs.
S. Morgan Bryan was an American illustration artist and genre painter. He is best known for western-themed genre scenes and sporting scenes.
