Original stage set design featuring four towers with a striking geometric design of playing card motifs. Gold flag poles held by chains lean from the top, suggesting castle towers or the pageantry of a royal court. This was possibly a modernist design for a production based on Alice in Wonderland, in which Alice encounters the Queen of Hearts and her playing-card courtiers. Little is known about this artist though set designs for the following productions have been located: Sabrina Fair, a romantic comedy which ran on Broadway in the 1950s, design for a backyard patio terrace; You Can’t Take It With You, sketch dated April 18, 1957; Cosi Fan Tutte, a Mozart opera, 5 set designs dated April and May 1956.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light wear, toning, handling. Light mat toning lines and tape residue in outer margins, easily rematted out.
