Dolphin Figural Fountain Spout
Early 20th Century [?]
36 inches high
A fountain spout in the form of a stylized classical or Renaissance figural dolphin. It follows the conventions of those earlier eras, depicting the animal as having fins and scales and a fishlike face instead of the features of actual dolphins. The upraised tail and curved scaled body wrap around a central vertical cattail plant in an S-curve, ending in a stylized face with an open rectangular mouth for spouting water. This object has three holes for hanging as a decorative plaque.
Condition: Patinated oxidized iron surface, overall very good.
