Description
Rolf Klep was an illustrator and author. Born in Portland, Oregon, he studied at the University of Oregon, where he earned a B.A., as well as the Art Institute of Chicago and the Grand Central School of Art in New York City. He established a successful career in New York City, contributing technical, marine, aeronautical and genre subjects to national magazines and advertising agencies. He authored and illustrated Album of the Great (1937), and illustrated many books including The Children’s Shakespeare (1938), Beowulf (1941), Across the Space Frontier (1952) and Conquest of the Moon (1953). Klep was a member of the Society of Illustrators, the Eugene Field Society, the Artists Guild and the Pacific Artists Guild.
