A photograph of teachers and students in an American classroom at the turn of the 20th century. Two teachers are posed in the back with what is apparently an 18-inch floor globe on a metal Art Nouveau style stand. Based on numerous extant examples, this style globe typically would have been made by an American school supply importer incorporating a British-made W. & A.K. Johnston terrestrial globe. Students are shown in the room carefully posed, some at desks, and other standing in the background under world maps hanging high on the walls. According to the prior owner of this photograph, it was taken in 1902.

Condition: Generally very good, with the usual overall light toning and wear. On original stiff card mount, the mount with some light staining in outer edges.
