Description
The American Institute of Homeopathy is the oldest extant national professional medical organization in the US, founded in 1844. Homeopathy was an early form of alternative medicine in the US, many of whom had begun as physicians with conventional university medical training. The organization was formed to govern and set standards for practitioners and to share pharmaceutical information among them. It grew steadily during the 19th century and held annual meetings in different locations.
