Photograph of the drawing room in the Thorn home, showing the eclectic collection of art and furniture. Traditional paintings share a wall with a large curtain printed with trees and birds rendered in an Asian style, evidence of the influence of Japanese and Chinese art on fashion, the arts and interiors at the end of the 19th century in America, which paralleled the same trends in Western Europe. The address at 23 West 16th Street is about one block west of Union Square, in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual light toning and wear.
