Description
Adolphe Rouargue was a painter, etcher and litstudied under David d’Angers and Alexandre Colin and subsequently worked in partnership with his brother Emile Rouargue. From 1831 to 1870, he was regularly featured in the Paris Salon, showcasing a variety of his watercolors, including marine scenes and views of Brittany, Normandy, Venice, and Florence. Some examples of Rouargue’s work are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of their distinguished collection of drawings and prints.
Isidore Laurent Deroy was a distinguished French painter and lithographer renowned for his meticulous depictions of views and historical sites. A lifelong Parisian, Deroy was a student of Louis-François Cassas and Fèlix. His prolific career spanned several decades, with regular exhibitions at the Salon from 1822 to 1866. Deroy’s extensive body of work, including lithographs, drawings, and paintings, is preserved in prestigious institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and numerous French museums. His legacy continued through his sons, Emile Deroy and Auguste-Victor Deroy, who both became accomplished artists in their own right.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning, wear, handling. Presented in an off-white mat and wood frame, with the usual light wear. Not examined out of frame.
