14 inches high; 6.75 x 8.25-inch wooden base

Product description continues below.

Description

The design of the dolphin derives from classical Green and Roman mythology and arts, later revived in numerous periods and styles including early 19th century French Empire and British Regency. Its use to hold this American modernist globe is innovative. Cram also issued this 10.5 inch globe with dolphin base as a light up globe for a number of years.

The globe is overall tan with geographical entities shaded in various colors. “Palestine & Israel” is shown indicating a date of about 1948 or shortly thereafter. Other interesting geographical entities include “French Indochina” (no later than 1954 or so), “Netherlands Indies” (no later than 1949 or so), and “Belgian Congo” (no later than 1964 or so).
