Interior designers Russell Groves and Neal Beckstedt’s low-maintenance vacation home on Long Island was featured in this New York Times photo spread and article. Among the decorative accents the couple chose is a black ocean globe purchased from the George Glazer Gallery.

Groves and Beckstedt run S. Russell Groves, a Manhattan architecture and interiors firm.  In considering how to create a comfortable living space for themselves, “We asked ourselves, ‘What’s the most practical, low-maintenance solution?” Mr. Beckstedt said. “And it always came down to something that would be used in school.”

Description

“We didn’t want to come to a getaway home for a weekend away and have to worry about nicks and scratches,” he added. “We wanted something compact, efficient and casual.” The decorating scheme incorporates “their usual mix of organic and industrial elements” including contemporary furniture and vintage schoolroom items.
