The 8th Annual Miami International Map Fair
Historical Museum of Southern Florida
February 2001
George D. Glazer was one of the featured speakers at the 8th Annual Miami International Map Fair in February 2001. The event, organized by the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, was at the time the largest map fair in the Western Hemisphere and attended by scholars from around the world, as well as by members of the public. George presented a talk on A History of American Globes 1810 to present. In his booth at the fair, George sold an 18th Century Covens & Mortier historical map of the Roman Empire to 10-year old Elimelech (above). The young collector selected the map himself, and his mother, shown in the background, approved his use of $75, a gift from his grandfather, for the purchase.
