The 12-inch globe surmounted by an hour disc, in full moveable metal meridian,
the horizon with Costello-type engraved paper calendar and zodiac, raised on a mahogany
Duncan Phyfe style stand with turned and reeded central standard, on four downswept reeded legs,
ending in brass animal paw casters. The stand is unusually high quality for a floor globe of this period. Railways, isothermal lines, cables and International Date Line indicated in key. This globe was made by W. & A.K. Johnston for Kittinger, one of the leading American furniture makers of the 20th century. For more about Johnston see our Guide to Guide to Globe Makers. Globe surface and horizon quite clean and readable, noting a few minor restorations to abrasions. Overlabel a bit worn with some losses to lettering.
