Remarkable collection of etchings of native peoples of India of the late 18th and early 19th Century. Solvyns (1760-1824), a native of Belgium, traveled to Calcutta between 1791 and 1804 and published these prints in France documenting his travels. Included in the set we are offering are depictions of men and women engaged in everyday chores, scenes of village life and landscapes with wildlife—a tiger, monkeys and a cobra.
