Black and white photograph of the racing yacht Esprit II, shown in crisp focus and brilliant contrast sailing over a wave in the Spring 1960 Off Soundings Club regatta.
According to the title inscribed on the mat, Esprit II was chartered by John B. McPherson of Old Lyme, Connecticut to compete in the annual Spring Series of races held by the Off Soundings Club (OSC). McPherson was an electro-mechanical engineer and a committee member of the OSC, a yacht racing organization founded in 1933 and based in Southern New England and New York State, that runs weekend races for its members. McPherson’s OSC Race Committee cloth blazer patch and OSC logo tie bar are included with the photograph.
