Two snow scenes by the English painter James Pollard, renowned for his sporting and coaching scenes. They illustrate two moments during the course of a blizzard that took place in 1836 in England. First, the Birmingham Mail coach and horses get mired in deep snow, and the letter-bags are being off-loaded to members of the Guard Banbury. In the other print, the Guard Banbury continue on their way on horseback with the letter-bags, with a local farmer pointing out the way to go. The prints are full of lively detail set against a snow-covered rural landscape.
