Treasure map of the Americas, as explained in cartouche: "This Map Proposes to Show the Approximate Locations of Some of the Best Known Lost Mines, Sunken and Buried Treasures in the Western Hemisphere According to Authenticated History and Legend." Sunken and buried treasures are numbered and contain a key with their descriptions, e.g.: "Pirate Jan Lafitte reportedly buried millions in vicinity of Baratharia Bay." Legendary lost mines are lettered and also have a corresponding key of their own, e.g. "Lost Peg Leg Mine. Reported to be in vicinity of Colorado Desert, Imperial Valley, Calif. Hill strewn with black mineral coated gold nuggets. 1829." Various illustrations throughout the map include pirates, ships, and a whale. Compass centered with a pirate skull and bones symbol.
