Elaborate decorative vintage pictorial map of the Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, with the campus features illustrated against the background of a green lawn with shrubbery and large shade trees. The buildings of the university are shown, including Alumni Hall, Andrew Hall, Lawrence Hall, the chemistry lab, the library, the president’s house, East and West Hall, Huntington Gymnasium and the chapel. Various sports are illustrated including football players on the campus field. Students play tennis, run track, and play golf next to Taylor Lake and nearby fraternity and sorority houses. Short descriptions with historical information accompany the illustrations. The university crest is incorporated in a directional compass. The cartouche takes the form of a paper scroll with quill pen, and the border consists of black-outlined rectangles in alternating colors.

Arthur B. Suchy was an illustrator who made maps in the period between 1920 and 1940. Some of these were of Cleveland, Ohio, including the pictorial map The Heart of Cleveland, Ohio, issued in 1928 for the city’s bicentennial.
