Cecil Beaton's whimsical observations and anecdotes about New York City in the 1930s, illustrated with black-and-white line sketches by Beaton, and photographs by Beaton and others. This is a specially bound presentation copy in a full blue-green crushed Levant morocco binding, with raised spines, decorated with a series of vertical gilt lines with horizontal series of small gilt rectangles interspersed, designed by George Sutcliffe and bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London. All edges are gilt, and the endpapers and slipcase (enclosing text block only) are in paper printed with geometrical pattern in four colors.
