Saving a Century of Progress
by Robin A. Carlascio and Theresa K. Badovich
Crown Point, Indiana: Amalfi Publishing, 2014
A bird’s-eye view painting from the George Glazer Gallery was pictured in a double-page spread in this book about five homes in Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore that were originally built for the Chicago Century of Progress World’s Fair in 1933 with this caption:
This stunning aerial view looking south over the exposition was created by H.M. Pettit at the behest of the World’s Fair board in 1932 and revised for the fair in 1934. The image was reproduced in fair guides, postcards, even on jigsaw puzzles. The original large painting is available for purchase at the George Glazer Gallery in New York and shown on its website of www.georgeglazer.com. Inquiries: (212) 535-5706.
