Moon globe covered with a green tinted photographic map showing the topography of the lunar surface in simulated raised relief, with lunar craters and seas, and place names.   The globe loosely rests on a wooden base, having four quadrants above a rectangular plinth with applied decorative gilt eagle on the front.

Moon globes became popular in the 1960s as people followed the American and Soviet space race, culminating in the famous Apollo 11 mission in 1969, in which Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon.  This example in green, by an unknown manufacturer, is rare; it was purchased with another en suite, otherwise no other examples are known.
