"Garden Lovers" map of Florida focusing on the rich variety of flora and birds found in public parks, private and commercial gardens, arboretums, reserves, etc. Among the sites shown are Sebring Highland Hammock & Arboretum, Royal Palm State Park, Audubon Bird Reserve, and Apalachicola National Forest. The map is bordered with decorative Art Deco illustrations of plants and bird species indigenous to Florida, including the roseate spoonbill, pelican, egret and flamingo. It is printed in shades of yellow, blue and green. The back of the map contains an extensive text describing around 250 places of interest to lovers of both wild and cultivated gardens, including suggested routes for drives. There is also a section on “noteworthy trees.”

This chart, an authoritative guide, is offered as a practical aid to those seeking the floral beauty of Florida. It not only makes available lovely gardens of the state but also marks fugitive places of natural flora, National and State Reservations of wildlife, little known shrines of great trees and groves and those hidden pools of surpassing enchantment where underground rivers gush to the surface in flowing springs. It would further suggest something of the brilliant color, the mood, the spirit and the reality which is Florida.
Don J. Emery was an illustrator based in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the time this map was made. In addition to designing and illustrating A Map of Florida for Garden Lovers (1934), he provided the maps and decorations for the book Florida's Golden Sands (1950) by Alfred Jackson Hanna and Kathryn Abbey Hanna.
