Illuminated terrestrial globe made of paper gores on a glass globe, surmounted by glass finial. The flanged opening of the globe at the south pole sits on a cylindrical metal base, held in place by fitted nuts. Light-up globes are designed to make viewing of the globe easier by casting significant light on the globe map from within.
