The terrestrial globe in brass meridian, the horizon band with engraved paper calendar and zodiac, with brass polar hour circle, raised on a mahogany tripod stand with turned baluster standard, the down-swept legs heading by roundels and ending in bun feet.
A very handsome and charming globe. A nine-inch table globe on a floor-style stand is very uncommon. It gives the effect of a miniature floor globe.
The Newton family of cartographers were among the leading English globe makers of the early 19th Century. For more information see our Guide to Globe Makers.
