The celestial globe canted on inclination arm, raised on a Renaissance-revival pierced metal stand with statuary bronze finish, elaborately decorated with classical designs and masks.
Constellations according to classical mythology, with additional constellations of the period in the Southern Sky in the form of scientific instruments, etc., well delineated, colored in yellow on green background. Table of star magnitudes.
The globe is unsigned, but is similar to celestial globes produced in the 19th century by French globe makers such as the Delamarche family. The stand, however, is extremely unusual for a globe, yet appears to be entirely original, and is characteristic of other decorative arts of the period.
