A humorous scene set in the studio of a young artist. He has evidently been commissioned to paint the portrait of a well-to-do man dressed like Napoleon. Apparently, he has succeeded so well in satisfying the man's pretensions that the patron has been moved to tears by the depiction. Meanwhile, the artist and a young woman celebrate his success with a kiss. Giovanni Battista Quadrone was an Italian artist who painted in a precise Realist style. He is perhaps best known for his hunting scenes. |
