Great illustrated 18th century plate book guide to British country houses. Includes many National Trust houses. Among the engravings are charming views of Blenheim, Saltram, Raby, Fonthill Abbey, Attingham, Sion, Blickling. Original full red leather and boards. Front and back boards with inset gilt stamped vignette of an historic house within gilt diamond shaped decorated raised lozenge border, and outer gilt rectangular floral and vine border. 63 copper-engraved plates. printed one to a sheet with 63 facing pages (one or two sides) of description.

British draftsman and printmaker William Angus made engravings for European Magazine and also engraved landscapes and buildings for topographical works such as this book, both from his own drawings and those of others.
