Charming fall pastoral landscape in the Impressionist style, depicting a harvested cornfield in which the stalks have been wrapped into tepee shapes, a few pumpkins scattered around them.  The field is ringed with trees in autumnal foliage with a river or lake beyond.  In the distance, on the opposite bank is a small town dominated by a church steeple, at the base of a mountain.  The watercolor was purchased in the vicinity of the Finger Lakes region of New York, and bears a local framer’s label; it is most likely a view of that region or elsewhere in Upstate New York or New England.

The painting is in its original oak frame, with applied C-scroll brass metal inner border.

Framer’s Label:  From L.H. Wheat’s Photo Studio, Newark, N.Y.

Condition:  Generally very good with the usual light overall toning and wear.  Outer edges toned, not visible as framed.  Frame with usual wear, especially on edges, shrinkage separations at mitres.
