Detail of a female head in a turban taken from The Abduction of Helen (1631) a painting by the Italian Baroque master Guido Reni (1575-1642) that is in the Louvre. (Reni was sometimes referred to in France as "Le Guide.") The detail was drawn by Philippe Chéry. The legend on print says that it was engraved for the Imperial Library (Bibliotheque Impériale).

Philippe Chéry was a French artist. He was a student of the neoclassical painter Jacques-Louis David (1748-1825). He produced portraits and history paintings that are in the collections of French museums.

N. Bertrand was a Parisian engraver and printseller. He did a number of engraved studies of heads of characters from Greek mythology after other artists during the 1820s, sometimes for other publishers, sometimes self-published.
