Decorative and historical French map entitled "Planisphere." The map, on Mercator's projection has simple cartography, the continents shaded in colors of yellow, orange, green, and pink. The elaborate border features allegorical representations of the seasons in oval cartouches, and illustrations of peoples of the world, in the right and left margins. The lower border has biblical representations with the motto Fraternite, Perfectibilite, Union, Harmonie, and the upper border has Adam and Eve under a zodiac arch against a starry sky.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual light toning, soiling, soft creases. Very handsome.
