Terrestrial globe on an Aesthetic Movement style cast iron stand, canted in calibrated full meridian and leaf-designed meridian holder in gold paint (as issued) raised on black stand with two-part central standard on round base decorated with classical leaves and line-and-dot edge pattern, ending in three stylized anthemion feet. Geographical entities are indicated in a variety of colors; the oceans, originally blue, have faded to bluish-green.
Schedler was an American globe manufacturer operating in New York and Jersey City. E. Steiger was a New York bookseller that marketed Schedler globes. Read more about both firms in our Guide to Globe Makers.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning, wear, soiling. Few abrasions neatly restored. Seller’s label E. Steiger, applied on globe gores, as issued, somewhat chipped. Stand good with the usual oxidation.
