The tin celestial globe in red painted tin base, the full calibrated tin meridian, painted with blue numerals, the globe showing the constellations as figures in light blue on dark blue ground, stars shown in white and connected by straight white lines, the ecliptic shown in wide red doted line, the meridian swinging forward or backward in a stand comprised of triangularly set wire-form rods connected in a rectangular base for holding the paper-back astronomy guide, Stars, by Herbert S. Zim and Robert H. Baker (Simon and Schuster, New York: 1951).
In the 1950s, Replogle issued a variety of tin specialty globes, including a Quiz Globe and Magnetic Air Race Globe. This celestial globe shows the constellations as interpreted in classical mythology and according to scientific instruments, and features an astronomy book set within the base. Replogle also issued a "Surprise Globe" - a terrestrial globe with black oceans opening to reveal concave celestial maps of the northern and southern skies on the interior, the celestial maps of similar style and coloration to those on the 6-inch celestial globe.
