The celestial globe showing boundaries of the 88 constellations by hatched lines, the stars of constellations connected by straight lines. Overall a light blue ground with black stars, and explanatory names of the constellations in red. Rests loosely, presumably as issued, on round bowl form amethyst glass base.
This globe was designed by Commander Stubbs, R.N.R. and uses the constellations as boundaries of regions in the sky connected by straight lines, rather than show them in the traditional way as fully delineated classical images.
