The rectangular frame with raised laurel leaf design, surmounted by central three-dimensional crest of displaying American eagle with arrows and leaves in its claws, over American shield, flanked by pair of circular official emblem seals of United States of America War Office and Navy Department United States of America. This unusual frame, cast of solid bronze, was likely used for official purposes, quite possibly in a Navy Department building. The frame is recessed in the back, and probably can be adapted to incorporate a work of art or mirror.

Condition: Generally very good, oxidized and tarnished overall.
