Recent English translation of the definitive work on French 18th century furniture by scholar Pierre Verlet. It contains numerous color and black-and-white photographs of furniture, as well as illustrations of makers’ stamps. Originally published as Les Meubles Français du XVIII Siecle in 1956, and in English translation in 1967, this work is deemed an “important [work] by a great authority dealing with 18th-century developments.” Although this 1991 edition is relatively recent, this book is scarce.
