The style relates to that of Joan Mir\u00f3 and Wassily Kandinsky, as well as ancient petroglyphs. Most likely painted in the 1950s or early 1960s, when sinuous curving lines playing off of floating geometric shapes was a popular compositional device in design and illustration. The geometry of the ties themselves is also emphasized in this painting.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Watterick Evans lived in San Leandro, California and was a graphic arts instructor at Chabot College, Hayward, California.<\/p>\n<p>Condition: Generally very good with the usual light overall toning and wear.
