This chair is the actual prop used in the movie The Patsy<\/b>, a 1964 American comedy directed by and starring Jerry Lewis and released by Paramount Pictures. The chair was purchased at the auction sale \u201cEuropean Furniture, Paintings and Objects of Art from The Collection of Paramount Pictures\u201d held at Christies, New York, December 16, 1989. It is illustrated in the Christies catalog for the sale and can be seen in use in original publicity photographs for the movie.<\/p>\n

It is headed by a scrolled crest carved with the winged lion of St. Mark, the curved elongated arms headed by stylized fierce beast heads. The back splat has a grotesque mask.
