An allegorical female figure in classical garb stands atop a down-turned cannon and blows a horn, a blazing sun filling the background &#8212; evidently the emblem of the dawning of a new age of peace. The lettering of the title is part of the design. Mason also made a three-dimensional bronze sculpture of the same figure with horn and cannon, which she titled <strong>Victory<\/strong> (see References below).<\/p>\n<p>Mary Stoddert Winfield Mason was an American sculptor born in Jackson, Tennessee. When she established herself as an artist she was living in Elmsford, New York, outside New York City.
