Diamond was an artist, architect, printmaker, illustrator, and graphic designer based in New York and Connecticut. Born in Albany, New York, he studied architecture at Syracuse University. After moving his studio to Roslyn, New York, on Long Island in the 1920s, he started drawing local buildings and scenes, which he translated into wood and linoleum engravings and watercolor paintings. Diamond designed catalogs for Hicks Nurseries and book jackets for Doubleday and other publishers. He also worked as an architect, designing homes as well as early-American-style furniture. In 1958 he moved to Connecticut. A collection of his Roslyn engravings was added to the town’s Bryant Library Local History Collection in 1973.<\/p>\n
Reference:<\/p>\n
Sloam, Myrna. “The Wood Engravings of Henry R.
