This lamp was manufactured by the Heraeus company in the town of Hanau, Germany. The iron base has the original company tag.\u00a0 The company\u2019s roots go back to a family pharmacy started in 1660. In the early 20th century, Heraeus invented the mercury vapor lamp, which subsequently led to the development of the tanning lamp. Today, Heraeus is a conglomerate still headquartered in Hanau that includes businesses in the environmental, electronics, health, and industrial applications sectors.<\/p>\n

Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning, oxidation, wear. Recently rewired for standard lamp use. The aluminum shade is in aged tone; it can also be polished bright and reflective at additional cost.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

An adjustable modernist lamp, originally intended as a therapeutic heat lamp, now converted to standard desk lamp use. The shade rotates 360 degrees sideways and at different angles pointing up or down. Overall the lamp has an industrial, “steampunk” look, well suited for a modern interior.<\/p>\n
