The tulips complement the other fine furnishings in that grouping: a landscape oil painting by John Rathbone (English, c. 1750-1807), a George III marble-topped giltwood side table by Pierre Langlois, and Georgian mahogany hall chairs by Gillows of Lancaster.<\/p>\n

Four Weinmann Tulip Prints<\/strong>

The George Glazer Gallery sold four botanical engravings of tulips from Johann Wilhelm Weinmann\u2019s monumental work Phytanthoza Iconographia<\/strong> (1737-1745) to a collector in the United Kingdom. These photographs show them installed in the front hall of the collector’s London home on either side of a landscape painting and a variegated marble table after he had them framed in the early-18th-century Flemish style. This part of the house dates back to 1635. The home is a Grade II listed building, i.e. one that has been placed on the National Heritage List for England (NHLE), a registry of historically important building maintained by Historic England. Buildings categorized as Grade II have been determined to be “particularly important, of more than special interest.”<\/p>\n
