He illustrated ads for the couturier Elsa Schiaparelli, and also worked for the major fashion magazines such as <strong>Harper&#8217;s Bazaar<\/strong> and <strong>Vogue<\/strong>. Vert\u00e8s worked as a designer on seven films winning two Academy Awards for the film <strong>Moulin Rouge<\/strong> (1952), for Artistic Direction and for Costume Design. In 1956 he designed the costumes and props for the Ringling Brothers&#8217; Circus. He also created original murals for New York City&#8217;s Carlyle Hotel and Waldorf Astoria Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>Inscriptions: Signed in matrix &#8220;Vert\u00e8s&#8221; upper right&#8221; Imp. Val D&#8217;Osne &#8211; Ent. 26-32&#8243; lower left. Numbered &#8220;432&#8221; right margin.<\/p>\n<p>Condition: B+. Generally very good with the usual overall light toning, wear, handling.
